After a crazy and a half week, we have finished our game for the Cogswell-SJSU Collaborative Game Development Challenge. We have created Gravity Flyer -- the Side-Scroller with Grav!

Congratulations to our team for developing something fully playable!

  • Christopher Nelson (myself) -- Code/Design

  • Cindy Chang -- Art/Design

  • Don Davis -- Research/Art

  • Kevin Speer -- Art

  • Euclid Sun -- Sound/Music

This game was an opportunity for me to refine my knowledge of SDL and C++, and to engage in more strongly Object-Oriented approaches to game design. I still have not fully reached that goal; I need to have a few more engine-level classes, like a Controller and Game class, et al. But, I do have several hierarchical classes representing types of objects in play!

The Windows installer of the game is available on my personal webspace at Gravity Flyer. There is currently no plans to put out a linux/mac version, unfortunately. This might change later on, depending on how much further the team wants to take the game.

This code is not open-source at the request of the laed artist. My next project will be solo, so expect it to be GPLv3! I'm looking forward to Python next, we'll see where PyGame will take me.
